45. What other places have you visited within your country?
Just Chiang Mai. We have never been to see the sea, but we
would like to.
46. Where have you visited outside the country?
We have not been outside our country.
Communications
47. What types of media are you exposed to? How do you
get local and world news? Does it matter to you?
TV news, but we don't listen. We do not read a newspaper.
48. How many radios, TVs, stereos, and VCRs do you own?
One radio, 1 black and white TV.
49. What do you watch on TV, and for how many hours/day?
Boontham: 3, in the evening.
Bourphet: 5 (2 hours afternoon and 3 hours night), soap
operas, concerts.
50. How many telephones do you own?
No telephone.
51. If you read, what do you read?
We have no books in the house.
52. Are you politically active?
Yes, we always vote. (We know about elections in Cambodia,
but can't remember who is who or what they are voting for.
We have heard of Ronald Reagan but not Bill Clinton.)
53. What are your perceptions of the rest of the world?
Bourphet believes that other countries are well off, and wants
Thailand to get to a better level, but feels lucky to be in
Thailand, without wars.
